A long time ago (like YEARS) I blogged about how in the future I was going to have my own TV show called, "Let's Get Crafty!" The studio audience would shout, "LETS!" "GET!" "CRAFTY!" and I would run out on stage brandishing glue sticks with ribbon stuck to the bottom of my shoes.
Let's just say, I am glad that idea didn't pan out. I do not have the hair for television.
But today I am excited to introduce "ELISE GETS CRAFTY" the podcast! It is slightly less awkward than a TV show but still discusses some of my very favorite topics. What I know to be true is that it's easier to have a conversation than write a blog post. You get to do cool things, like use inflection to denote sarcasm. You get to talk through thoughts as you're having them. You don't have to worry (as much) that someone is going to take a sentence out of context. It's faster. It's easier. It's less-edited. It's really just a fun additional way to connect and share ideas.
I have a few goals for this new venture.
First : I'd like to share some of the things that I have learned over the years about blogging, business, creativity, inspiration and motivation.
Second : I'd like to speak with some fun guests and learn from their experience. I am thrilled to be bringing some people on to talk about things that I don't already know about (like how to run an affiliate program for your own business or what it's like behind the scenes at the National Stationery Show).
Third : I'd like a different channel to connect with readers and grow my business and brand in a way that feels authentic, is interesting to me and isn't too time consuming.
The first THREE episodes are now live and you can listen here or download through iTunes (search "elise gets crafty"). I am working on getting the episodes listed on other podcast channels. The first episode I recorded before I knew what I was doing to talk through my plan and then figure out how to actually set up a podcast. The second is just an old video post (elise talks college) that I turned into an episode. The third is about developing an editorial calendar for your blog and features my first guest, Sarah Von Bargen from Yes and Yes.
New episodes will go live on Wednesdays (probably not every single Wednesday, but often enough). I'd love to hear episode suggestions or guest host ideas if you have them and I hope you enjoy. And FYI, the blog is not going anywhere! I'm just experimenting with a lot of different things this year. Thanks for helping me stretch and grow.
