So that was fun!
Last Sunday we celebrated Ellerie turning two up in Sacramento with our friends and family. Paul's mom and sister did an amazing job with the rainbow theme (that turned out to be quite the perfect coincidence!) and the house and yard looked SO festive.
Ellerie wore a rainbow painted shirt (super simple, I just used fabric paint and hoped for the best) a pink tutu (from mini boden) and picked her own accessories (no joke) from Aunt Kristen's necklace wall. The little rainbow tattoo is a body sticker that she refused to take off and is currently rocking.
(If you're wondering how I get her to stand still for photos, the answer is, I say "Ellerie, can mama take your photo?" and she happily backs up into the wall and says "cheeeese." It's hilarious and will certainly not be like this forever so I'm appreciating it while it lasts.)
Obviously, two is a little young for a party. She was confused by all the commotion and probably had the most fun after most people had left and she had some room to dance with her friend Miles, but she did wonderfully all things considered.
We really went all out with the rainbow theme - super easy to do with fruit (just cut and on skewers)...
...and veggies. Way more fun than a "normal" veggie platter for sure.
We had three cakes, a little one for Ellerie to blow (and potentially smash but instead she lightly petted it), the gender reveal (with the red ribbon) and a salted caramel (!). I'm pretty sure most of all three got eaten. We ordered the cakes from Karen's Bakery and they did a wonderful job. The sprinkles killed it.
Ellerie did so well when we sang Happy Birthday (I was worried she'd be scared) and broke into a grin when we said "to Ellerie" as if it finally dawned on her that this party was all for her. She even wore her crown which was so sweet.
And after singing we cut the gender reveal cake for baby #2 due in November. I have never been to a gender reveal party and none of our guests had either. A few had heard of them, but they sort of seem like an urban legend, no? It was such a fun way to find out the news and so great since we already had everyone gathered (and we were already eating cake).
A sister! Sisters!!! TWO LITTLE GIRLS.
And to our Ellerie, you're amazing. We love you so much.
